Job Description:

From its base at Seattle’s BFI, Erin Air, Inc. has been serving its clients and

aircraft owners with on-demand charter and management services since

1980. Our fleet includes Light through Mid-size turbojets.

Erin Air, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced individual who is qualified

to fill the role of Director of Maintenance (DOM). The DOM plays a critical

management role in Erin Air’s aircraft charter and management business.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The DOM reports to the President for all company maintenance activities

and has full authority and responsibility to accomplish, but not limited to,

the following:

Aircraft Maintenance:

• Inspect and maintain company aircraft, engines, appliances and

components in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations Pt 43

and Pt 135

• Schedule maintenance and inspections for company aircraft assuring

that all maintenance and inspections conducted (both in- house and

outside maintenance and/or inspections) comply with company

maintenance policies, relevant Federal Aviation Regulations, and

standard industry practices

• Ensure aircraft are safely released for all flights

• Work within the regulations and safety goals to release aircraft on

schedule

• Maintain current Calibrated Tooling Inventory and Shelf-Life Limited

Inventory

• Maintain company tooling and Ground Support Equipment

Record Keeping:

• Maintain aircraft records to current FAA and company standards

• Audit all company work orders, Purchase Orders, and Invoices

• Maintain an effective maintenance control system

• Monitor and audit contract agencies in their performance of

maintenance, inspections, repairs, modifications, and record keeping

in an approved manner.

FAA Liaison

• Initiate all forms and reports required by the FAA such as Service

Difficulty Reports and Mechanical Interruption Summary

• Review, coordinate and resolve all planned major repairs or

modifications with contract agencies and Federal Aviation

Administration if necessary

• Apply for any necessary Ferry Flight Permits with Seattle FSDO as

required

• Maintain positive working relationship with local FAA PMIs

Department Management & Leadership:

• Responsible for the hiring, oversight, training, and management of

team of mechanics reporting to the Director of Maintenance

• Maintain current training records for all company maintenance

personnel

• Provide positive leadership for department including regular

performance feedback and support for staff development

• Conduct aircraft and maintenance department regular budget

reviews

Company Management:

• Maintain effective liaison with the company President, General

Manager, the Director of Operations, the Chief Pilot, the Dispatch

and Sales managers and with other outside agencies in

accomplishing maintenance or inspections on company aircraft or

components

• Maintain professional and effective communication and relationships

with aircraft owners and company departments

• Conduct and participate in any required audits, and safety meetings

as applicable to maintenance operations

• Promote a positive safety culture

• Notify the Director of Safety of any instances of actual or potential

safety compromise

Customer Relations:

• Maintain professional and effective communication and relationships

with aircraft owners

• Maintain professional demeanor and dress as both owners and

charter customers will see all maintenance staff on site

Job Requirements:
  • Applicant must meet the requirements of FAR: 119.69(d) 119.71(e) and meet them through his/her training, experience, and expertise;
  • Have an understanding of the following concerning the company’s operations:
    • Aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
    • The certificate holder's operations specifications
    • All appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements of 14 CFR chapters (e.g., Parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 135 of this chapter)
    • Any manuals required by 14 CFR 135.21 or the company
  • Hold a current mechanic certificate with airframe and power plant ratings.
  • Have a least 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity maintaining either:
    • Large airplanes with 9 or fewer passenger seats, including at the time of appointment as DOM experience in maintaining the same category and class of aircraft the certificate holder uses.
    • Repairing airplanes in a certificated Repair Station that is rated to maintain airplanes in the same category and class of aircraft the certificate holder uses or, has at least 5 years of experience in one of, or a combination of, the following:
      • Maintaining large airplanes with 9 or fewer passenger seats, including at the time of appointment as DOM experience in maintaining the same category and class of airplanes the certificate holder uses.
      • Repairing airplanes in a certificated airframe repair station that is rated to maintain airplanes in the same category and class of airplane as the certificate holder uses.
  • Be available for reasonable after-hours response (or management-approved delegation of same)
  • Be able to effectively manage both personnel and facilities located at the maintenance base and remote locations.
  • Available for travel as needed to perform these duties at remote locations on an emergency/as-needed basis.

Additional Qualifications

  • Proficient in using industry-standard maintenance hardware and software
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Aviation Maintenance Management (or equivalent industry experience)
